Segoli, My name is Karl Lusis and I am an enrolled member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended college at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. After 9 years in the construction industry and working for two of the largest architectural firms in the state, I created Standing Stone Design, LLC. The goal of Standing Stone Design is to provide quality architectural services to Indian communities with a sincere compassion for the people and a great respect for their traditions. Standing Stone Design understands many of the common ideas that we share as Indians, such as the great respect for our elders, our increased efforts to resurrect our dying languages and traditions, and the recognition that we are responsible for our Mother Earth. We also understand that each tribe is unique and has a richness all its own. Some of these are reflected in their clan system, their creation stories, and the landscape in which they make their homes. We strive to make every project reflective and respective of the community that we are designing for. With our team oriented approach, we all can bring our individual talents and ideas to the table to create a facility that responds to the needs of the community.
